Once I discovered I could bake delicious goods for waaaaaay cheaper than buying and that I could control the ingredients with muuuuuuch better quality than offered in stores, I’ve never looked back.
I don’t enjoy eating cupcakes, but I enjoy making them. I almost never eat them.
I teach preschool at church. I ask the kids about their favorite foods, and in efforts to impress me they say things like broccoli or salad. I am honest and say chocolate chip cookies. I think I lose the respect of some and gain great esteem with others.
I don’t buy sandwich bread, I bake it. I don’t think my kids realize that homemade sandwich bread is not normal.
If a baked good contains chocolate, it should not also contain fruit. This is a law by which I live.
I am slightly maniacal about avoiding preservatives and weirdo ingredients in food. Don’t ask me about it unless you have a few hours to talk because I have FEELINGS ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. Know that if you eat one of my bakes, it will be mostly (if not completely) organic and have a very short shelf life.
I am waist-deep into baking, knee-deep into earth conscious living, ankle-deep into teen parenting, and all-in with my life in Jesus.
